Why should I have boudoir photography done?

Why not? Boudoir photography makes a great gift, especially for that hard-to-shop-for loved one. But it's not just for others--it’s for yourself. Boudoir photography is a chance to look and feel your best. Spas and other beauty treatment salons may pamper you, but with photography you walk away with concrete memories. Between the full makeover and the photography session, our goal is to show you how beautiful you really are. And it's not just for the young anymore, either. Many people are getting boudoir photography to celebrate a fiftieth year anniversary. You're never to old to feel beautiful.


What should I do before my Boudoir photography session?

We do an interview before the boudoir session. This allows us to determine what you want out of the experience, as well as what props and sets you might want. It's here that the first creative step is taken, where you tell us what you envision so we can make it a reality. Before you come in, you might want to look at some magazines. What images and poses do you like? We at Mystic Images aren't here to judge you, we're here to cater to your fantasies and those of that special someone--don't hesitate to let us know your desires. We also go over the consent forms in this interview, making sure that you understand everything and drawing the boundaries clearly in advance. This is an exchange of ideas, the first step in creating a unique, personalized session.


What kind of pictures do you take?

By now you should have seen our boudoir samples. Take another look. This is a shared creative process; from the interview to the final product, you are in control. Our knowledge and twenty-five years of experience are at your disposal to make your fantasies come true. We want you to be comfortable and happy with your experience here, and pleased with the final product. Our greatest goal is to work with you--playful, sultry, innocent, we do it all.

What kind of props and sets do you have?

Our most popular sets are the fireplace and the bed, with the most recent favorite being our see-through wooden screen, which is quite elegant and exotic. This being said, there is no limit to the sets we either have or can fabricate. With the hundreds of props and backgrounds of a fully equipped studio, there is little we can't do.


What kind of props and outfits should I bring?

Anything! Props and clothing are a way to personalize the picture. In addition to lingerie, bring in work or hunting clothing, tools, sport equipment, even motorcycles... talk to us at the interview, and we'll discuss how to bring more personal touches into the images. When in doubt, bring it with you to the session. It's always best to have too many choices than too little. Who knows what that one extra article might inspire?


Do I have to be naked?

Absolutely not. We don't want you doing anything you're not comfortable with. If you're uncomfortable, you're not looking your best. We do a lot of more conservative photography, this often inspires the imagination and is just as attractive as nude images. We'll ask you about your comfort level at the interview, so we know and understand your wants, needs, desires and comfort level.


Do you have a makeup artist?

The same makeup artist who does our glamour photography comes in to do hair and makeup for our boudoir photography for a small additional fee. Take a look at our glamour section to see some of the fabulous makeovers that she has done in the past. She's quite talented, and we're lucky to have her available; but because of a busy schedule, she must be booked in advance to be sure she's there. If you want hair and makeup, be sure to make your appointment early!


What if I want to do my own makeup?

That's not a problem at all. We do have some advice, though. Avoid shiny makeup or glitter, as this can catch the lights and look strange. The camera sees things like glitter differently than our own eyes; it often makes the picture look flat or even grainy. Hairstyles should be relatively loose; heavy hairspray or other styling products will make it hang unnaturally in some poses. Remember that really heavy makeup isn't necessary; all of our boudoir photography comes with retouching.


What can I expect from a Boudoir Photography session?

Session times will vary depending on which package you choose, but expect to spend at least one and a half hours in our studio. While in the studio, the girls pamper you, doing any hair and clothing adjustments necessary to keep you looking your best. We've found that this makes for a more fun and comfortable environment. The best sessions occur when you come in ready to have fun. This is a wonderful experience in which you get to look your best, and we want you to enjoy it.


Do you retouch photographs?

We do a full retouch on all boudoir and glamour photography before it ever leaves the studio. Digital photography allows us to retouch images, removing any skin blemishes or imperfections without blurring the image at all. The final result is a soft, beautiful image that doesn't even look like it's been touched. We also do more extensive retouching, including tummy tucks and lifts, so you can look your best.


What is an art-o-graph?

An art-o-graph is the ultimate in art photography. Take a look at the section on our glamour main page and you'll get an idea. With art-o-graphs, we can totally change the image. We can make your picture look like a one of a kind art piece, or blend images to produce something entirely new. Using blue screen technology, we can insert pictures of cherished cars, love letters... the possibilities are endless. Art-o-graphs add an entirely new dimension to our photography. If you're not sure what you want, just tell our artist that you would like him to make an art-o-graph for you. Some beautiful art has been produced this way!


How long will it take for my pictures to be ready?

Depending on the number of pictures to be retouched and whether or not you choose an art-o-graph, orders can take between two and three weeks to be ready. Can't wait that long? We offer a Special Premiere Showing, where the photographs are shown in a special slide show over espresso or coffee. If you're purchasing these images for that special someone, this option has the added benefit of allowing them to view the entire session, and order the images they love.


Will you show my pictures to other people?

We'll go over this more extensively at the interview, but the short answer is this--never without your permission. If one of your images is especially good, we may ask permission to put it in one of our preview albums or our slideshow. If you don't give your express permission, the only people to see that image will be us, you, and whoever you choose to show them to.
